OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive, Windows Live SkyDrive, and Windows Live Folders) is a file hosting service and synchronization service operated by Microsoft as part of its suite of Office Online services. Launched in 2007, it allows users to store files and personal data like Windows settings or BitLocker recovery keys in the cloud, share files, and sync files across Android, Windows Phone, and iOS mobile devices, Windows and macOS computers, and the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles.
OneDrive offers 5 GB of storage space free of charge, with 50 GB, 1 TB, and 5 TB storage options available either separately or with Office 365 subscriptions.

OneDrive Pros and Cons |
---|
PROS:
◈ Remote storage of documents removes the need to keep an in-house data backup system. Multiple users can access/edit the same document simultaneously (no more "this document is locked for editing by xxxx" messages). Documents can be accessed by any device with a browser, you do NOT need to have office suite (Word, Excel, etc.) installed on the device you are using.
◈ Integration with Windows versions 8 and later provides instant simplicity with OneDrive. With Windows 10, it has become even simpler to use on PCs. The context menus allow easy changes to whether or not a file or folder is synced to the cloud, and the onedrive.live.com site is intuitive and easy to manage the content store via any browser. The ability of native applications for every reasonable platform makes this product appealing.
◈ After using the software for a while, I can say that I do really like OneDrive. Uploading files is very simple and straightforward. It's great for the field of work I am in since we're constantly sharing information and documents with others in our department. I also haven't run out of space and I probably add new documents every day, so that is a major plus. I also love that I can access it anywhere, this has come in handy many times when I haven't had my work laptop handy.
◈ Much like Google Drive or or other storage software in the Cloud, OneDrive offers a great way for personal and professional file storage. You are given your first 5 GB free, which for most is a great way to store personal documents, photos, etc. and offers ample space to do so. Files are stored securely and the ease of use of this software is particularly good. For businesses, the increased space prices are pretty reasonable for what they offer (which at this point is 50 TB!). If you are doing any type of Cloud based storage, this is a serious program to consider using!
CONS:
◈ Often I experience issues with file syncing on Mac OS. Missing integration with Windows mail, ability to store big attachments to OneDrive directly unlike Google.
◈ Honestly nothing. There is absolutely no cons that I can think of regarding OneDrive.... if you're on the fence about using it, then you're crazy. Just do it! Even the "free" version is EXCELLENT!
◈ Paying for the extra storage I need. But that's OK really, it's money well spent and in fact, I spend around the same for the Google Docs storage I need to maintain for some clients so it's simply an expense to be borne.
◈ I really do not see any negative aspects for this application except that one of its big sales is also a disadvantage because it always depends on an internet connection. If you upload the information from your device you can leave it on hold and when you have internet it will synchronize it automatically.

OneDrive Support |

Microsoft maintains an online help center for its software, including OneDrive, Office 365 and Office Online. It isn’t bad, but that should be expected of a company of its size.
You can search for help topics or browse by category. OneDrive categories include “getting started,” “files,” “sharing and collaboration,” “sync,” “mobile and mac,” “accounts and storage” and “troubleshoot.” The website has a number of training pages, many including videos.
If you can’t find what you want on the website, you can either contact Microsoft support or try the community forum. When contacting Microsoft, you start with a chatbot of sorts using what the company calls a “help app.”
